Why ASOTVI?

No one likes getting ripped off. All of us have experienced the disappointment of having expectations set by an appealing advertisement you see on TV, picking up the phone or going online and buying a product, only to discover when it arrives that it doesn’t quite do what it said it could do, or perhaps it doesn’t even work at all. How can you avoid this? How do you keep yourself from being victimized by exaggerated hype and false product claims? Do you ever see one of those TV Ads and ask yourself, “Can it Really Do That?”
Other than just taking the risk and hoping for the best, you have a few basic choices:
- Independent Subscription Review Organizations like Consumer Reports. However, CR may or may not have reviewed the product you’re interested in—especially if it’s a lesser expensive product, such as many of the Direct Response TV (As Seen on TV) products that cost around $19.95. And even if CR did review it, does it make sense to pay a $26 annual subscription fee to find out information on a $19.95 product?
- User Opinion Websites. This is a very common approach these days. Just search for a product name and you will find websites where people are talking about it; or look at the comments on Amazon or other online retailers, and read the entries of others’ experiences before making your own purchase. There’s only one problem with this approach: anyone can participate. That means even the Vendors of the products you’re interested in can add their own biased glowing testimonials (shills), as well as disgruntled individuals who may have had a bad experience with a product due to their own misuse or misunderstanding and completely trash a perfectly viable product. There’s really no way to know for sure if the opinions you read can truly be trusted.

ASOTVI never tells you to buy a product or to not buy a product—only whether the product WORKS AS ADVERTISED—or not—along with the pros and cons, the good and the bad, and everything in between.
Please note that if a product not only works as advertised, but also demonstrates unique value or utility, we’ll be sure to highlight that for you, and may even be selected to be included in our “Must Have” category of recommendations; but the decision to buy any product we review is always yours—an informed decision, which is all we hope to enable you to make.
Furthermore, ASOTVI doesn’t claim to be “technology experts” in the specific disciplines of each product we evaluate. We don’t need to be, and if we were, we wouldn’t be giving you first-hand honest appraisals of the products and their performances, just the way you would judge them as a consumer. We’re consumers, too. Our view is that it shouldn’t take an “expert” to use a product that claims to make your life easier. It should work as it claims, and an average person should be able to figure out how to use it. If it doesn’t work as advertised, or is too complicated or difficult for an average person to use, that’s probably something you want to know.
Also, please know that we don’t sell any of the products reviewed on this website. We’re not a reseller, just a product reviewer. This allows us to be completely unbiased and independent in all of our reviews.
ASOTVI’s revenues are generated solely from our advertising sponsors; and we do not accept advertising campaigns from any product vendors we have reviewed whose products were not found to work as advertised. If we say a product “works as advertised,” it’s because it does work and we observed that it does and we show that to you. If we say it doesn’t work, it’s because it doesn’t work, and we show you exactly why.
Our mission is two-fold: both to help inform and protect consumers. Also, we want to help promote those legitimate product vendors with wonderful new inventions that you just might be hesitant to try unless you could see for yourself what it is you’re going to get and how it works. That’s what we do. It’s serious business — except for the times when the evaluations get pretty funny. You be the judge of that.
