What is it? A blade sharpener.
Major Claims
- Sharpens Knives, Scissors, and other cutlery
- Sharpens Serrated Knives
This product features two tungsten carbide blades to sharpen household items with blades (knives, scissors, etc.). We found the product to sharpen common kitchen knives quite easily and effectively in its “teeth” end of the product. This product works as advertised.
The retractable blade in the other end was a little trickier to figure out. The instructions that come with the product and single illustration image for each blade type wasn’t terribly helpful. But once we got the hang of it, specifically with a pair of scissors, it was pretty easy and effective.
This product is entirely manual, like a sharpening stone. The user has to apply a specific amount of pressure to force the blade being sharpened to scrape against the harder metal of the product.
We did observe in sharpening a steak knife that if the knife has a combination of both straight blade for the most part, but a slight serration near the tip (which isn’t uncommon) you will need to be careful using the “teeth” end of the product not to file the serrations off. Serrated knives require the opposite end of the product whereby each “tooth” of the blade must be sharpened on only one side.
