What is it? A package opener.
This product is designed to open clamshell packages as well as CDs and DVDs. Basically it’s a plastic holder for a razor blade.
The vendor’s infomercial shows it “easily” slicing open clamshell packages, but please note that all the demonstrations only show the product cutting one straight edge of a package. In our evaluation, we too observed that if you only cut along one straight edge, it works just fine. However, when we reached a curved section of the package, we ran into difficulty. With multiple attempts we got it to cut, but the end result was a somewhat mangled, but open package.
With respect to the free electric scissors, we used them to try and cut a piece of simple cardstock. The first attempt didn’t get very far. The second cut through the heavy paper, but making a crooked and jagged cut. These weren’t very much help at all.
Our observation was that these two products do cut, and therefore technically work, but don’t do so very easily or as effectively as claimed.
