 What is it? Lawn patch.
This product is an all-in-one turf starter or turf repair material. That is, it’s a soft, fibrous-feeling mulch, complete with grass seeds or wildflower seeds, along with all the various fertilizers, enzymes, and organic nutrients that the seeds need to germinate and take root. All the user needs to do is put the mulch down generously over soil and water it consistently to grow new grass or one of their various wildflower variations.
In our evaluation we evaluated three of their products: 1) Ultra Dog Patch, to repair an area of dead grass caused by pet urine; 2) Ultra Lawn Patch to repair an area of dead grass due to dryness, and 3) Ultra Wildflowers. As you can see in the video, all we did was put down some fresh soil, generously apply the product, water, and wait. The product claims to achieve results through its “moisture management,” which presumably is accomplished by the mulch, which holds moisture around the seeds. We observed that if you water it every day, it grows.
In four days, we observed the first seedlings sprouting, and after a week, we had short grass. With respect to the wildflowers, in that same time period, we could see the first small leafy sprouts. After ten days the grass as a few inches tall and the wildflowers were getting larger and more leafy (see video), looked very healthy, but had not yet got to the stage of producing flowers yet. Presumably they will in the not-too-distant future.
This product comes in several varieties for sun or shade conditions. It’s very easy to use. We found the product works as advertised.
