 What is it? A tabletop pizza oven for “personal sized” pizzas.
This product consists of an electric base, with two primary heating elements. One is positioned underneath a broad metal plate to heat from below, and one is suspended over the plate to cook the top of the pizzas. The base is covered with a thick ceramic dome with six openings. For each opening there is a metal spatula with approximately a four inch plate at the end of a “fondue” styled handle. The idea is that the product can be used in a fondue party format to make what the vendor refers to as “personal sized pizzas.”
No pizza ingredients are included; they must be purchased separately. Fortunately, pizza dough can be purchased pre-mixed and ready to roll out and cook. For our evaluation, that’s what we bought. Probably the hardest element of making pizzas, large or small, is rolling out the dough and getting it properly thin enough. It takes a little practice (and a good rolling pin if you’re not skilled at tossing dough). Once rolled out, the product does include a dough cutter, which is a plastic ring, that works like a cookie cutter, to cut your pizza dough the right size for the fondue spatulas.
Once you have your dough cut, you then place it on a spatula and add pizza sauce, which you can buy pre-prepared, along with shredded cheeses and any other topping you prefer. Half the fun of using this product – and it is fun – is making your pizzas. When you have one ready to go, it slips inside the preheated oven (15 to 20 minutes), and then in 8-10 minutes, you have a fresh, hot pizza.
The product’s instructions note that it can also be used also to make other baked dishes and desserts.
This product could be very entertaining for the whole family, but please be strongly advised that this is a small ceramic and metal OVEN – meaning it gets very hot, and you (or your children) could get very burned if you’re not very careful. Use this product with the same caution you would any stove or oven, and never let children use it unsupervised.
We observed this product to work as advertised.
