ASOTVI Review

What is it? An electric barbeque grill.

The George Foreman grill is legendary as an electric grill, and we wanted to put it to the test to see for ourselves. There are many models available, and the one we evaluated was the “Big” George Foreman Mega Indoor/Outdoor version, which features a grill surface approximately 17 inches in diameter, and stands about 31 inches high. The product can also be taken off the stand and placed on a countertop for indoor use (like if it’s raining outside).

The first observation we made after taking it out of the box was how easy it was to assemble (see video). Unlike other grills we’ve assembled in the past, this one has no screws or bolts to worry about. All the pieces just easily fit together, and the entire apparatus is ready for use in a matter of minutes.

For our evaluation we preheated the grill for 10 minutes, as recommended in the included recipe book, and grilled a ribeye steak. It came out fine (and delicious!).

What really distinguishes this product is how it handles the “mess” of barbeque. Most grills of any type allow grease and drippings to fall down to the bottom of the base, whether there is a grease trap of any kind or not, and clean-up can be a real messy chore. Food and grease can also burn onto traditional grill “bars” and require serious scraping to clean.

Conversely, with this product, the entire grill surface is solid, so nothing can fall through, with the exception of a drain specifically designed for grease which goes into a catch basin for easy removal and disposal. The grill surface itself is non-stick and requires no cooking sprays, and also cleans up easily. This feature alone is enough reason to have one.

The lid of the product is vented (and adjustable) and large, allowing larger food items, such as a whole chicken or small turkey to be roasted.

So if you cook at all, and like barbeque, and whether you live in a house or an apartment (many apartments and condos forbid gas or charcoal grills) this product not only works as advertised, but truly is a Must Have.
