 What is it? A hook used to keep a purse of other bag off the floor when at a bar or restaurant.
This is a very simple product idea that works well. The Purse Hook is just that—a 4 inch metal hook attached to a swiveling base. The base is about an inch and a quarter and has a rubber pad on the bottom to keep it from slipping. To use the product you simply slip the shoulder strap or handle of a purse or other bag (camera, backpack, etc.) onto the hook and then set it on the edge of a tabletop or bar top.
The product comes in several versions and in two colors (gold or silver). There is a basic unit, a more advanced unit with a swivel in the middle of the hook, and even one for permanent mounting that comes with two wood screws. The unit with the swivel in the hook is great for bar tops or tabletops that have very little or no offset leg room underneath, i.e. like a vertical countertop. With the swivel, the purse doesn’t need to hang directly below, but can lay up against the vertical surface with the hook twisted to the side (see video).
Please note that there are some styles of bar tops that won’t work with devices like this, specifically the old-fashioned wooden bar rail, which is about six inches in width and rounded on both the top and bottom edges. If there’s no flat surface for the rubber base to hold onto, it will slip. It should work fine for just about all tabletops that have a horizontal surface and clean edge. For especially thick tables, such as an ornate dining table, the version with the swivel would be ideal, even if the table is thicker than the size of the Purse Hook.
The product comes in its own individual velvet bag for easy storage in a purse when not in use, which also protects it from getting scratched by other items in the purse. We also observed that this product can be used as a promotional item by businesses or organizations, in that the velvet bags can be customized with a logo or lettering, as desired.
