What is it? House shoes with headlights.
This invention was long overdue. For everyone who has had to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, get a snack, whatever, and sheared off/broken/mutilated/stubbed a toe on the edge of a dresser, nightstand, or bed post, or tripped over a toy or some other discarded object in hallway or on a staircase, then this is the product you’ve been waiting for.
By day, it’s a comfortable house shoe/slipper—a slip on, and extremely comfy with non-skid soles. They come in many colors and sizes (Men’s sizes 5 to 12, Women’s sizes 6 to 13).
But by night, these shoes are equipped with a photo-sensor located on the side that knows when it’s dark. And when it’s sufficiently dark, and your weight is in the shoes, each shoe is equipped with a powerful battery powered LED headlight that comes on to light your way. No more bumping into things in the dark. And with these lights in your shoes, you don’t need to carry a flashlight and therefore have both hands free to carry anything you need.
If you don’t sleep alone, then a product like this is very considerate of others not to have a lamp or other room light turned on at night and waking them up. Even if you do sleep alone, it’s really nice to be able to avoid having a bright light in your own eyes after yours have completely adjusted to the dark.
In our evaluation, we did notice that you need to “break in” the shoes a bit to ensure the weight sensor activates every time. After a little while its sensitivity increases and becomes much more consistent, and you don’t find yourself having to lean forward on your toes or tapping your feet a bit, which was needed a few times at first. The product’s instructions advise of this, so it isn’t anything to worry about.
One thing of import to note about our video evaluation is that it was shot without using the “night vision” setting on the camera, i.e. what you see is using only the available light in the room. The video result shows you the product working, but doesn’t really show how much light is available once your eyes have adjusted to the dark. You really can see quite well with just the light from the shoes, which is a soft blue light.
We not only observed this product to work as advertised, but think everyone could benefit from what it has to offer, making it a “Must Have.”
