 What is it? A protective cage for washing bras.
This product consists of two plastic shells, and inner shell and outer shell, with large perforations, resembling an egg-shaped cage. The idea behind this product is to place a bra between the inner and outer shell and then launder it as normal, with the outer shell preventing the bra from taking a beating from a washing machine’s agitator or other clothing items that might impact or snag it.
The product’s instructions advise that it is applicable to bras up to size D. For D-sized bras, the inner shell isn’t used. They recommend, best case, only washing one bra with the product, at a time, but you can use more than one, although it is not recommended that you use more than three at a time. The product’s packaging comes with two complete units.
It’s common for many people to put bras and other delicate items inside a bag or other fabric container to keep them from impacting other clothing items during washing. However, fabric bags do nothing to prevent impact from the washing machine’s agitator and the physical pounding that may occur during a wash. This product specifically holds a bra’s cups in their normal position during the entire wash cycle and also prevents other objects from hitting them.
Now when it comes to drying, that is an option for you. Depending on the material a bra is made of, you may wish to air dry your bras. If, however, you are comfortable putting them in the dryer, and they are not susceptible to heat damage, this product will again prevent the bra from being impacted by the tumbling process and other garments as well.
We found the product easy to use, and observed the bra’s cups to have been held consistently in place during both washing and drying. We therefore conclude this product does offer a measure of protection to bras and therefore works as advertised. We make no claims relative to long-term benefits for your bras, as that would be contingent on the specific bras being washed, materials of the bras, washing methods, detergents used, drying, etc. But in terms of a protective enclosure to prevent physical damage to the bra during washing and drying, that is what this product does, and what we observed to work.
